a new religion

when i stepped from the dark
the cave mouth shuddered

a tangle of ivy hung
to the forest floor
up at a citrine horizon
i asked
am i born

the wind said yes, softly

my toes pulled at grass
and for handfuls of minutes
just stood there breathing
some tingling feeling started
in my fingers then started to pulse
i looked down
brown hands looked back
began to glow
am i god
i asked

the wind said yes, certainly
